Delivery of careers advice in schools is varied and ranges from an information-centred approach, in which the career advisor makes information available about careers, to a student centred approach, in which the career advisor works individually with the student.
The Commonwealth Government through the initiative, National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transition (NPYAT), aims to increase the educational engagement and attainment of young people and to improve their transition to post school education, training and employment through immediate, concerted action supported by broader long term reform. One of the initiatives in this program within Victoria is the Youth career and transition programs.

The Blueprint identifies the skills, attitude and knowledge that individuals need to make sound choices and to effectively manage their careers.

The Australian Career Development Studies (ACDS) is a professional development package for career advisers, community workers, or parents who want to gain some skills to help their teenage children make decisions about their futures.
Career Education of Victoria (CEAV)
The CEAV is the Victorian peak body for secondary school career practitioners, work experience coordinators and VET coordinators. The prime role of the association is to provide professional development to members.
The Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA) is a national organisation of professionals who work in the career development industry, delivering services in industry, government, education, small businesses, employment programs and community organisations.
The Job Guide provides an in-depth look at a range of occupations, and their education and training pathways. It also gives useful information about how to work out what occupations suit you best, based on your interests and abilities.

The Real Game
The Real Game is a dynamic careers and life skills program for students. Five games are tailored to different age levels. The Real Game series engages students in the big questions about their future through role-play and scenarios relevant to their age group.

Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework
This framework has been designed to provide a scaffold for teachers, trainers, careers practitioners, team leaders, curriculum coordinators and school leaders to develop a localised and customised quality career development program for young people in schools, Adult Community Education (ACE) and TAFE.
Building an integrated program requires planning and co-ordination and the Framework provides suitable links to existing curriculum to assist in the planning process.
Victorian Assessment Software System (VASS)
VASS is a web-based system. This means it can be accessed from anywhere where internet access exists. Data entered by a school is directly recorded on a central database.
Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA)
The VCAA provides high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting that enables individual lifelong learning.
Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC)
The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is the central office that administers the application and offer process, for places in tertiary courses at university, TAFE and independent tertiary colleges in Victoria. VTAC receives and forwards application information and supporting documentation to the course selection authorities at institutions.
