State Government Recurrent Grants

Schools receiving Australian Government General Recurrent Grants must account for those grants both financially and educationally.

Do I need to comply?

Yes, if your school is receiving a State Recurrent Grant.

Conditions of compliance

A school signs a Funding and Service Agreement with the Victorian Government for Victorian Government funding.

If you have to comply, what must you do?

Provide evidence of your school’s not-for-profit status.

Participate in an annual Victorian Government Department of Education and Training (Vic DET) census (conducted in February), along with any subsequent request to participate in an enrolment audit.

Provide financial reporting on receipt and use of the State Grant, including the provision of independently audited financial reports.

Demonstrate a focus on student outcomes, including a commitment to working towards achieving the Victorian Government’s goals and targets for education and participation in state-wide literacy and numeracy benchmark testing.

Meet the registration requirements for initial and on-going registration, including a demonstrated commitment to the provision of a curriculum that prepares students for participation in contemporary Australian society.

What are the consequences if I don’t comply?

You may be asked to repay funds or the Minister may delay or deny the payment of future funding to the school.
