Gay Wales grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the New Forest in Hampshire, United Kingdom. She also went to boarding school in Winchester and decided that schooling must be more enjoyable, relevant, challenging and fulfilling. Her early working life was in the business world, but her passion has always been about bringing the wonders of the world to anyone who will listen. After having two children, she taught for 19 years; first in French at the bi-lingual French school in Camberwell, and then as Deputy Head at Christ Church Grammar School where she introduced technological innovation and deep inquiry learning.
Gay has been at Melbourne Montessori School since 2012 and has revelled in the dedication to excellent education, the values and the system to be found at a Montessori school. Under her, the school has grown substantially and two years ago, it commenced a secondary school at the Brighton Campus. The team of Board, staff, parents and students create an extraordinary atmosphere of learning as everyone works in the pursuit of relevant, 21st century learning.
She believes that our children are living in the most intensely stimulating period in history. Melbourne Montessori School provides broad opportunities for young people to become excited by the world around them, catering for their different interests and skill levels. It surrounds children with passionate teachers who can light that essential spark to ask more and expect more.
