Mr Jonathan Walter is the Principal of Woodleigh School based on the Mornington Peninsula.
Jonathan’s career started in outdoor education where he formed a love of outdoors and working with people in experiential settings. As a committed holistic educator, he believes in the importance of having students engage in real-world learning experiences, and finding ways to develop resilient, creative individuals through a focus on maximising their strengths.
Jonathan has worked in Independent education for over 25 years as a teacher and educational administrator in four of Melbourne’s highly regarded Independent schools, where he undertook major roles in strategic direction and leadership. He has a Masters in School Leadership from the University of Melbourne.
Career highlights include establishing Caulfield Grammar School’s Earth Studies Centre at Yarra Junction, which integrates a student-run dairy farm that uses sustainable farming practices, as well as the Eco Cabins, which accommodates students in facilities that help them to understand resource use. He was instrumental in developing the Learning Journeys program at Year 9, and introduced Learning Mentors at years 7 and 8 at Caulfield Grammar School.
Woodleigh School is a progressive coeducational Independent school for students from ELC to Year 12 in three campuses on the Mornington Peninsula, with an enrollment of over 1000.
