Dr Michelle Kearney has been Principal of Bayview College since 2012, after holding several senior leadership roles in the Independent and Catholic sectors.
Bayview College is an Independent Christian coeducational school originally founded in 1884 as Loreto College, a Catholic girls’ school. Bayview College incorporated in 1977 as Christian Community College, an ecumenical school. It was renamed Bayview in 1994 to acknowledge the cottage onsite that housed the academy conducted in 1864-1865 by St Mary Mackillop.
Commencing her professional life as a music educator in 1985, Michelle has been drawn to nurturing and building positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues in every position that she has held.
Under her leadership, Bayview College has embarked on a renewal of college culture, the adoption of a school-wide pedagogical framework, increased provision of IT and the introduction of a unique wellbeing program. This program is inspired by the college crest that serves as a commitment to service in the community and the development of leadership skills, reminding students that they can affect change.
She is a longstanding member of Australian College of Educators (ACE) and Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL).
