James Laussen – Overnewton Anglican Community College

James Laussen commenced his teaching career at Wesley College, where he worked for fifteen years before his appointment to Overnewton Anglican Community College as Head of Senior School in 1996.

As Principal since 2001, James has led the college through a period of substantial growth and development.

Overnewton Anglican Community College is recognised for its commitment to families and parental engagement with their children’s learning; James is a passionate advocate of the benefits of the college’s family involvement program.

Under his leadership, the college has remained a warm, caring community while maturing into a vibrant, outward-looking centre for excellence in primary and secondary education.

James was a member of the AHISA State Executive, 2009-2014, Chair of the AHISA Biennial Conference Committee, 2013-2014, and a member of the Board of the Anglican Diocesan Schools Commission, 2010-2015.

He has been on the Management Committee of Anglican Schools Australia since 2013 and its President from 2015-2017. James has been a member of the VCAA Secondary Principals’ Group since 2011, the VIT Accreditation Committee since 2014, and a Board Member of Independent Schools Victoria since 2016.

James was awarded an ACEL Victorian Fellowship in 2015.
