Principals in Profile – Josie Crisara

Josie Crisara, Priincipal, Aitken College

Josie Crisara has been Principal of Aitken College since 2009 and prior to that was Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School. Previous to working at Aitken College, Josie was Head of Science at Overnewton Anglican Community College, working there for ten years and Goulburn Valley Grammar School for four years. All of the schools she has worked at have been new schools establishing themselves in their communities. This has given her experience in designing curriculum, setting up systems, working on building projects and establishing culture. Josie attended both government and Independent schools after which she completed a Science Degree at the University of Melbourne, where she also completed a Graduate Diploma of Education and a Masters in School Leadership.

Josie is keen for students to receive an education where they can develop their knowledge and skills, where academic endeavour is encouraged and creativity is nurtured, where values such as respect, honesty and kindness are seen as important, where there is an understanding of right and wrong, and where a sense of community and service is valued. She wants students to celebrate diversity, have an appreciation for our environment and explore opportunities to contribute to the arts and sport.

Josie is a member of AHISA (and current Victorian Branch Chair), ACEL and STAV where she is on the management team for the Science Talent Search competition.
