Tony Sheumack was appointed Headmaster of Beaconhills College in 1997 and has led the College through substantial and sustained growth in the years since.
Tony has proudly developed education at Beaconhills College into a comprehensive affordable program, underpinned by Christian values, for families new to Independent education.
As a strong advocate for Independent education, he believes that children in the south-east growth corridor of Melbourne should have the same educational opportunities as those of other more established inner suburbs.
Beaconhills College has recently taken part in a successful four-year Leading Learning That Matters project, involving Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) and the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Boston. The work from this project now underpins the College’s strategic plan and is reflected through the six pillars of Learning That Matters.
Tony was elected to the ISV Board in 2006 and is currently serving as the Deputy Chair. He has also been a member of Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA) since 1997 and recently completed a second term on the Victorian branch executive. In August 2016, Tony began a three-year term as the Independent schools’ representative on the Board of The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
