You are school leaders, teachers, parents and students and others in Victoria, Australia and around the world who are passionate about education. We speak for well over 200 Independent schools in Victoria and more than 128,000 students. We explain educational issues, develop and propose policies, negotiate with governments and celebrate the success of Independent education. We counter arguments by opponents of Independent schooling and correct their misinformation.
This is how. Our Twitter feed is a fast way of getting out the message. We can tell school leaders where to read government policy announcements and the views of respected educationists. Principals can learn about our international best practice programs, and teachers are reminded that we provide extensive professional learning that is so important in raising standards.
Our Dialogue blog – right here – is the opportunity to discuss topical issues, show how Independent schools in Victoria are successfully using our programs to help students, and their schools to enhance teaching, management and governance. We illustrate how our Member Schools support their local communities.
Our Facebook Page carries news and information for parents and students. We ‘like’ stories and pictures that our Member Schools are running on their Facebook pages.
These three platforms link back to the Independent Schools Victoria website that holds a wealth of information under the headings, Who we are, Managing a school, For teachers, Talking about education and Providing services.
Social media works because it creates connections to bring people together and we are delighted with the response we are getting, particularly as our first platform, Twitter, started only a few months ago, and the others more recently. You have the links now so follow us, share your views and like us – follow, share and like.
