Who We Are
Independent Schools Victoria represents Independent schools throughout the state. We speak for more than 200 Member Schools to governments, the education sector and the Victorian community.
Our vision is a strong Independent education sector demonstrating best practice, providing excellent outcomes for students and choice for families. In striving to achieve our vision we are helping Independent schools to continue providing the best possible education for the citizens of tomorrow. Find out more about us.
The arts are important in educating young minds, starting students on a life-long journey that will lead them to contribute to the world around them.
A well implemented arts program leads to high-order thinking that assist students to make effective decisions and solve problems with more than one solution. In this way, arts education enhances skills to support learning across the curriculum, and helps to develop social competencies through self-expression and team building. Independent Schools Victoria arts program showcases the work of our Member schools with their students, providing the opportunity for public exhibition of student work. Find out about our arts programs and the online art gallery.
Making Active Connections
Students and staff of Independent Schools Victoria Member Schools contribute to a civil society by giving their time, resources, knowledge and skills to local, national and international projects.
Independent Schools Victoria manages two community involvement projects, Making Active Connections and Independent Schools Victoria’s gallery. Find out more about the role of Independent Schools Victoria in the community.
Parents and others researching Member Schools may locate and view schools on an interactive map of Victoria. By using the map it is possible to search by suburb, school name or address and postcode and access a satellite view and school photographs. Once a school has been found, more detailed information can be obtained by using our Member School details database.
